Awesome song by a great band from my adopted home of Austin, TX.
Enjoy.
I have no idea where this song is from. I’m sure it’s on one of Astro’s numerous EP’s I’ve never heard of because I’m not nearly cool enough, but it’s all good. I found this song on YouTube one day and I haven’t stopped listening to it since then.
It’s what the kids call “dope.”
Enjoy.
Tomorrow’s the day that the Stuart Stutzman “Small Amount of Texas” book tour gets on the road. I had a great time in my hometown of Dallas/Fort Worth, but it’s time to get all up in Austin’s face.
Austin, TX is where I got my start writing. First as a songwriter, then as a comedian, and then as whatever the hell I am now. This song, “Boy Out West” is going to be the official song of the “Small Amount of Texas” book tour. It was written by my songwriter buddy Andrew Blanton, and this video is him performing on Longhorn Late Night.
In case you’ve forgotten, my reading/signing is going to be at Cherrywood Coffeehouse this Saturday, Feb. 1, at 2:00 pm. I’ll be posting photos of randomness and nachos and awesome people on my twitter (@stuartstutzman) if you’re into that.
I hope to see all of you in Austin! Thanks so much!
Enjoy the song, and check out Andrew at reverbnation.
I can’t really go into too much detail on this one. It’s just a beautiful song that reminds me of a beautiful time.
Enjoy.
10 years ago, I got the greatest Christmas gift ever. I got a black, Ibanez acoustic guitar from my mother. I was 17 years old, and it was the best.
I’ve had all kinds of great adventures and met all kinds of amazing people because of that guitar, and none of it would’ve been possible if not for my mom.
Thanks, Mom.
Take time to appreciate your loved ones today, and show them that you care. It’s important.
Merry Christmas, everyone.
“Amitriptyline” by John Vanderslice
I first heard this song shortly after I was diagnosed with bipolar disorder, so it hits really close to home for me. But it’s also a good song. Also, fun story, I saw John Vanderslice live with St. Vincent (the early days of St. Vincent, btw) at the old Emo’s on Sixth in Austin, and I helped with the drum mics! Cool story, I know.
Hope you guys like the song.
I first heard this song at some random music festival in Austin a few years back. My roommate kinda dragged me to the show, thinking that he would really like it. He thought it was kind of “meh,” and I loved it.
Hope you like it.
This is one of the coolest songs I’ve ever come across on YouTube. Dessa is one of the members of the rap collective Doomtree, whom you should check out.
This is one of her songs filmed on Minnesota public television and it straight up rules.
Enjoy.
P.S. I know I’ve been gone for a bit, but I’ve been super busy working on a project that I should be able to tell you guys about soon. Spoiler alert: It’s gonna rule.
Great track from Wilco’s Yankee Hotel Foxtrot. If you haven’t heard that album, go check it out. Because it’s fantastic. Like, genre-changing fantastic.
Enjoy.
